DAY 10: Challenges, Murder and "Fire"

Today was a mostly relaxed day.A breakfast of cereal, eggs and bacon set everyone up for the day, though it was mid morning before Ben F got his coffee, which was an error on our part!

While some of the leaders went shopping all the explorers took part in Crazy88, a Dutch scavenger quiz game that took them exploring around the site and out into Halfweg.

After a relaxing lunch the Patrols were back out again, this time putting their best detective hats on solving the clues to uncover the murderer.

Once main activities were completed for the day everyone was given free time to relax around site, the jambo boulevard and get showers.

After dinner we had our Subcamp campfire, and while different to the way our normal fires run was still very enjoyable for everyone.

A 10:45pm curfew saw most people taking in some of the mokkie disco, but most relaxed on camp before bed.

Holly D

We made a new friend this morning, we called him Benjamin and we took him to the morning opening ceremony.

Pierce's Journal

The journal involves a summary over certain periods of time. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. At each point a large log shall be written. Important notices are also written at this point.

Lunch:

Our first Activity was great fun, we walked around camp to solve a trivia challenge. We even had to count all the station stops. It was great weather as we walked, everyone enjoyed the sun :)

Lunch was sandwiches and fruit, it clouded over atone point but its sunny again now.

Next activity is murder mystery, "time to unleash your detective skills".

Evening:

We id the murder mystery, tracking clues down around camp, the first was by the canoeing lake and not difficult to solve. One team completed the whole challenge in 20 minutes! Dinner was burgers, mash and broccoli.. odd but tasty.

The evening activity is a campfire. The fire itself is tiny (fire safety in a dry park with lots of wind), but the music is very loud. The clapping is uncoordinated, but the mood is there.

Campfire play by play

It's now 2046 and the fire has grown.. but technology is being temperamental. Each nationality is taking it in turns to fo a song/skit.

Some Austrian scouts are going to show us a yearly tradition, its a repeat after me song.  Its a sing it louder as you go, but... it's a sing it quieter as you go too..then louder.. and even more louder.

A British leader is a out to do a call and repeat song now, it's about an alien from Mars.

Some canadians have brought a guitar. They are doing Country Roads, but instead of West Virginia we are singing the place we are from "Cleveland county".

More British scouts next, it's really funky. The beat is strong and its a jumpy tune.

It's absolutely awesome at the campfire, time is now 2105.

The Irish have a birthday boy. Hans looked so happy, but he did get limited edition Stroopwaffles.

Canadians 1st Paradise is going to do a song that gets faster. Its in a blog. It's about a Rattlom Bog.

Valley <- Bog <- Hole <- Tree <-Branch <- Limb <- Nest <- Bird <-Egg <- Bird <- Feather <- Worm <- Hair <- Rat

It was very complicated but very fun to try and keep up

Time is 2128 and its raining tacos.. I mean crisps.. there are crisps everywhere.. literally.. leaders are throwing packets out to us and we are throwing them to each other.

2134 AND WE ARE DOING THE MACARENA!

Some West Canadians are going to do a skit called Pebbles?

This will be funny

It's hilarious by the way..

Poor pebbles!

It's poem time! (It's actually 2142)I hope it is eloquent...

The poem was amazing!

The Israel scouts are next!

Wait..

There not here..

Never-ending

It's Belgium instead :)

I wonder what they are going to do?it's a call and repeat..

It's everywhere we go.. and at 2149 it's gotten really loud!

The next skit was meant to be a ghost story, but too many of their group have lost their voice.. so we are doing Alice the Camel instead..get well soon!

2151 and its a song next..

It's a Scottish call and repeat..

I SAID A BOOM CHICA BOOM.

They did Normal, soft, elvis, high-pitched and loud

2155 it's the Spanish turn, unfortunately there is some tech issues. They're doing some kind of gymnastics.. what does a human pyramid count as?

2200 and someone has complained about my torch, the campfire is coming to a close.. we finished it by doing our Yellow chant.

READY. CAMERA. ACTION.

YELLOW

YELLOW

YELLOW!

Goodnight all!
