DAY 8: The rain, the sun, the boogie

Today we were on Arts, Craft and Technology.  What hoped to be a relaxing day was made slightly complicated by a huge downpour overnight and during the morning, but when the sun came out it took no prisoners! A very warm afternoon ensued which dried up most of the wet patches leaving just isolated puddles do avoid on site.

In the evening we were invited to participate in a subcamp communal meal, so while we cooked in our camp we took our chilli bowls down to the centre square to sit with other scouts and leaders.  Following this everyone got ready for the glitter and glam theme at the open air disco, with Lauren providing glitter for everyone.

It was a late night but tomorrow is a completely chilled morning with a lie in until 9am! So it was worth it.

Hollie, Oli, Sophia & George H

Today we were doing arts, crafts and technology. we were on the technology section, however we got switched to crafts on the morning as it was full. it was more of a chill games activity rather than making stuff but we had lots of fun playing rummikub. it’s a bit of a brain game where you make sequences using a set of rules. We eventually got the hang of it. George was losing by a mile but somehow made a shocking recovery and won the game, I came second, sophia third and oli being the loser.

To finish off we played qwirkle, which is similar to the last game we played mixed with dominoes. i won that one, with oli second, sophia third and george the loser this time.

This afternoon the activities didn’t match up so we got to do crafts again. This time there was only two of us and we played rummikub again. I won and oli lost. afterwards we burned through some wood and created some masterpieces.

As all the activities finished for the day, we chilled, had some chips and stroopwaffles, wandered and later had our dinner which was chilli con carne.

Tea was pretty good and went to the shop to try to purchase a hoodie. Luckily a few sizes were left. however, oli got the biggest size they did because there was no more left.

then harry also decided he wanted to wear it too…

To finish of the night we enjoyed the disco as a big group and had the time of our lives singing along to some of the best songs

Extract from Pierce Z

Log 1 – 0840:

Breakfast is pancakes today and they smell great 😃. It's raining right now for the last half an hour. It's not a shower but it's also not light.

Log 2 – 0845 :

I'm part of group 1 today and I'm doing technology in the morning and then craft in the afternoon today. Since it's raining, we're all bringing waterproofs and water bottles for hydration… yayy.

....

Log 6 – 0949:

Sitting in the technology tent and there's lots of cool stuff. There's solder and mirrors and little crocodile clips.

Log 7 – 0951:

There's a pixel sign that's says "Holy rain. Lucky the weather will be dry after lunch"…

Yeah that's a pixel sign in here

Log 8 – 1012:

It's really really cramped inside this tent. There's too many people and waterproofs aren't waterproofing.

Log 9 – 1021:

An executive decision was made so we're doing technology in the afternoon and the 31 of us are going to split into 21 and 10. Me and 20 others are currently in the art tent.

....

Log 13 – 1047:

We've sat down to do some tie dying and there's a spider on the table. It's lost a leg...

....

Log 15 – 1104:

We've tie dyed some neckers and we're about to get them ironed

....

Log 17 – 1208:

There are large puddles outside of our gate and we have to walk through them if we want to get anywhere. Hooray.

....

Log 21 – 1335:

So 3 days of pointing out planes, we've transitioned to pointing and shouting "aircraft" if we see one. To quote anonymously "that's a cool plane"

Log 22 – 1336:

The Canadian leaders have complimented our leaders by saying we're the most well behaved British scouts they've ever met.

....

Log 25 – 1335:

In the space of the just 3 logs, 4 planes have flown overhead

Log 26 – 1350:

There's massive mix ups and overflows for technology. It's like airport security.

To quote the last minute:

Person1 "Oi! Plane!"

Prsn2 "Plane!"

Prsn3 "No that's a duck"

Prsn1"A duck?"

Prsn3"A duck."

Prsn2 "…"

Log 27 – 1355:

I just heard some of our explorers (names shall remain anonymous) talk about cuddles. Awww 😂.

....

Log 31 – 1403:

THEY'VE GOT LEGO

LETSGOOOOOOO

Log 33 – 1420:

We're about to go WiFi hunting.

Log 34 – 1440:

It's absolutely boiling, the WiFi thing is difficult

Log 35 – 1441:

We've found another one... Yayy

Log 36 – 1447:

We've sat down on a log. There only AN HOUR LEFT?!

....

Log 40 – 1506:

I'm doing some geometry maths on AoPS alcumus. It's great fun computing sin(300°).

Log 41 – 1520:

I'm playing Awesome Tanks on the computer now.

....

Log 45 – 1625:

We're walking down to the showers. There are 9 of us

Log 46 – 1634:

People are complaining about the number of logs I've written.

Log 47 – 1737:

Finished shower. Feel refreshed. Dunno what I'm going to do for the rest of tonight. Btw we met a french scout earlier.

....

Log 49 – 1803:

We're eating dinner as a whole subcamp. We're taking out our benches and tables to put in the communal area. Dinner is a nice chilli con carne with some yoghurt for pudding.

Log 50 – 1825:

My table had a couple of Irish people who also had 40 ish people in their unit. However, they've only had one training camp and they've got scouts.

....

Log 52 – 1851:

We're going to grab the tables and benches we put out in the communal area.

Log 53 – 1927:

We're going for a quick stroll to the Mokkie.

Log 54 – 1931:

It's too early we're going somewhere else.

There's going to be a disco at the mokkie from 2130-2330

Log 55 – 2038:

That little stroll turned into a whole wander around the campsite.

....

Log 57 – 2102:

I've not lost anything today but I still want to find my cables since this yellow charger I bought yesterday is not working properly.

....

Log 60 – 2144:

I've reached 60 Logs yayy

Log 61 – 2144:

Some DJ at the mokkie just made some announcement.

Log 62 – 2147:

The speakers are so loud it's like they are right next to me. To put it into perspective. It feels like the volume of a cinema when you first walk through. Except the Mokkie is about 100 metres away and just as loud.

Log 63 – 2148:

The DJ in the Mokkie is really good. However, it's just too loud, I would like to sleep in a bit

Log 64 – 2149:

I'm going to go do my teeth and tidy up my tent. The DJ is going on about something I can't quite make out.

....

Log 66 – 2205:

I'm curious about what's going on at the Mokkie do I'm going to go peek in

Log 67 – 2207:

I've finally made it down here and it's on the stage rather than the Mokkie. It's playing Michael Jackson now.

Log 68 – 2211:

The sky is clear so it's cool and music slices through the air so loudly. The bass is really powerful and the vocals are crisp and distinguished.

....

Log 70 – 2214:

I've got 70 yayy.

.....

Log 72 – 2218:

Ashley's got a great glitter beard. Many other scouts have glitter beards

....

Log 75 – 2228:

The skies are all deep grey but streaks if yellow cut through the trees from the disco.

Log 76 – 2230:

I'm tired but the music is just soo loud. It's gotten to the point where the bass can make your skull shake from 100metres away.

Log 77 – 2231:

Guess what song the disco's playing? YMCA

....

Log 79 – 2319:

(For all the music people) The basslines on all the songs are monotone. And everytime the bass stops, I realise how much my head hurts.

Today's not been hugely fun but tomorrow is the day where we dress up as ice creams so hopefully that's good.

Goodnight then...

Signing off, Pierce Z.

See you tomorrow
