DAY 4: Ready Set Splash!

Today the sun finally came out on camp first thing, just in time for our Aqua activity, we were split between Sailing, Paddleboarding, Rafting and a City Cruise.

It was another quick paced morning to ensure we caught the buses to the activity but as we were going for Watersport’s no one seemed to mind.

After learning our skills on dry land we got slightly stacked trying (and failing miserably) to paddle while being synchronised, we eventually accepted our fate and went with the current.  Getting out of the water we had a nice rest for our lunch and then got into some knots trying to make a raft.  Failing to ring the bell at the end of the bottom of the ramp we accepted defeat and made our way back to the bus after a very good day.

I did Paddleboarding today and me and the girls used girl power to get paddle through the strong winds when the boys all got towed

After most of our party ended up in the water today we decided that the suggestion of having a shower on returning should be less of a request and more of necessity.. so you will all be pleased to know after 4 days they have now showered (mostly)… 


After an amazing dinner of Mexican Burritos (thank you team 4) the explorers made their lunches for tomorrow (we are hiking) then were given free time to enjoy the Alien Invasion party in the Mokkie, other activities on camp (or just chill, read or get an early night).

Today was another very early start, but it was worth it as it was Walibi World! While we did ask for a volunteer for todays blog it turned into another very long day, so we asked for some snippets from some of our groups instead to try and share an insight into their day. The day started as the last did with rain while waiting on the coach, however some (mostly those at the back of the bus) made use of the calm to catch up on a bit of sleep before the excitement of Walibi world. Lily, Chloe, Joe, Finn and George L We had an amazing time, especially our ride on the choo choo train! DAY 10: Challenges, Murder and "Fire"

Today was a mostly relaxed day.A breakfast of cereal, eggs and bacon set everyone up for the day,though it was mid morning before Ben F got his coffee, which was an error on our part! While some of the leaders went shopping all the explorers took part in Crazy88, a Dutch scavenger quiz game that took them exploring around the site and out into Halfweg. After a relaxing lunch the Patrols were back out again, this time putting their best detective hats on solving the clues to uncover the murderer. Once main activities were completed for the day everyone was given free time to relax around site, the jambo boulevard and get showers.  After dinner we had our Subcamp campfire, and while different to the way our normal fires run was still very enjoyable for everyone. A 10:45pm curfew saw most people taking in some of the mokkie disco, but most relaxed on camp before bed. DAY 9: #Skills4Life

Today was a relaxed day since it was Sunday.  The morning saw us attend a Reflection with the full camp, followed by lunch onsite, a formal unit photo and the open house in the afternoon. After dinner some attended the inter-subcamp frisbee finals, others went to the Mokkie and some explorers plus guests played Beetle Drive. And now a surprise entry for the blog today.. Ben F - County Youth Commissioner Sunday 13th August Day 482 - Haarlem Jamborette Woke up to a massive shower queue. With a distinct lack of coffee and beard full of glitter, the decision was made to smell for another day. Cracked open the chocolate cereal and as if by magic 41 kids appeared out of nowhere - looking rather tired and bedraggled. The smell is starting to overwhelm the leaders. After a swift breakfast, we sent them off for a morning of "reflection" whilst we sat and made cucumber sandwiches for the afternoon.
