DAY 6: Trailblazers!
Todays trail activities had the unit in two groups, the first were the high octane activities of Paramount Island then Run Forest Run. The second group started with Pioneering Pictures followed by Lights Camera Action.
You can tell from the blogs that there were some distinctly different personalities between the two activity groups, but I think all enjoyed the activities in their own way.
Tomorrow is our Unit Day Out, let's see what that brings!
Eva (Pioneering Pictures & Lights, Camera, ACTION)
We started today off doing Pioneering Pictures where we were tasked to make a castle using branches and ropes. As a team, we used a series of knots to support the structure. We finished the castle in just under 2 hours and got some great pictures of us defending our territory. We all thoroughly enjoyed working together to make our castle.
After some food, we participated in Lights Camera Action. We were split into 4 groups and were told to complete 4 challenges. This consisted of lots of working together with the challenges provided.

Log 1 – 0716
I woke up an hour ago since I need to cook breakfast. The camp's really quiet and nothing much is happening. Planes go overhead consistently: they're too loud
Log 2 – 0820
Just finished tidying stuff up from cooking breakfast. There's more stuff to wash after. Also Ben Fountain had let his voice fully.
Log 3 – 0824
Lauren and Ollie are going to point out plants all day π.
Log 4 – 0824
Mark has joined in with plane watching. To quote anonymously: "it's going to be a long day".
Log 5 – 0857
We've just finished breakfast. Lotti's reading out comments from previous blogs that the parents have sent in.
Log 6 – 0901
More eggy bread :)
Log 7 – 0906
Finished eggy bread :(
Log 8 – 0940
Cleaning up some pots and plates and whatnot. Almost time to leave for Pioneering Pictures
Log 9 – 1205
As it turned out, Pioneering was fine, bit the pictures meant that we had to build stuff out of movies. However, the castle we built looked like the frame for a big sandcastle!
We put up and took down a castle, dressed up as pirates and crowned Morgan Pirate Captain... Until he sat on Joe's shoulders where he got demoted to Pirate Parrot Morgan. To quote anonymously: "Danger danger!” George almost got his leg caught in something and he was _almost_ called Peg-leg George. Our rope bridge was wonky, looked fabulous and couldn't support a pigeon.
To finish off the activity, Lotti chased us back to the campsite with a stick using supreme swashbuckler skills... Meanwhile, Buzz complained about how his stick was broken.
Log 10 – 1225
We're tidying up our patrol tent for inspection after lunch.
Log 11 – 1403
We're at Lights Camera Action doing an activity right now
Log 12 – 1455
My groups had just finished the second Lights Camera Action activity. The weather is overcast but it's really starting to warm up. Dunno why, everyone looks miserable. I'm looking at my group and not one of them is smiling. Must be exhaustion.
Log 13 – 1457
A bug just hit my hand
Log 14 – 1804
Since the last log we've had to move two tents due to and anthills. The sun's beating down in us harshly and everyone's eating outside. Dinner is going to be mash, gravy and mince. It's nearly done.
Log 15 – 1812
Finn's "girl" was just offered a seat at our dinner tables. She just left... she said no..
Log 16– 1831
Food has just finished cooking. Soon to eat.... Hopefully at least
Log 17 – 1847
Everyone is homesick and on about what they'd do when they go home on my table
Log 18 – 2022
We just had a frisbee tournament. We have an elite team who make flawless passes, interceptions and overall the *best*
Meanwhile the Irish played rough and fouled all the time: they even managed to cut open Ollie's lip. They were decent with basic rules and stuck to them closely the whole of the game: especially the ones they made up.
By the way, we lost because of heads or tails despite us not even getting a call for the flip if the coin. So in summary, the Irish couldn't win a game against us so they made us do a different game based on luck.
Log 19 – 2046
Nothing much is happening but there's a nice sunset.
Log 20 – 2049
Here's some eventful stuff: I forgot to mention that Max tripped into the tent at 2021. Also... Why is there a boy in the lake?
[Note: not any of our kids]
I'd say it's been it's a great day but it's just boiling, doing a lot of simple activities and a stint of frisbee.
So...
Yeah it's been a great day
Signing off, Pierce Z.
See you tomorrow
Photos from Groups 2 & 3
Cam B, Sam G, Dylan (Paramount Island & Run Forest Run
The first activity was called paramount island it had a zipline that went across a stream, a vertical rope to climb and a tag arena. The second activity was called run forest run and this was an obstacle course that was timed. Me and Dylan were able to get the record of 2 minutes and 13 seconds which was 50 seconds faster than the closest competitors
